Imagine you’re Martha and Jonathan Kent, and Kal-El’s ship crashes into your backyard—the universe answering your dreams for a child. So you bury the ship in the barn, raise this otherworldly visitor as your human son, and all is well until Clark begins manifesting powers. Except instead of doing good and growing up into a beloved icon to protect America and the world… he acts a bit more like Damien from The Omen.
This appears to be the premise of Brightburn, James Gunn’s new superhero horror movie starring Elizabeth Banks. While Gunn is the biggest name listed on the creative side, he’s serving as producer; it’s written by his brother Brian Gunn and cousin Mark Gunn (known for Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and Journey 3: From the Earth to the Moon) and directed by David Yarovesky (the Guardians of the Galaxy: Inferno video short).
